Thyme Pasta with Champagne and Truffle Lobster Cream Sauce

Last night was our first NHN dinner of the new year. If you’ve been reading these, you might have noticed that we haven’t yet written about our Thanksgiving or Christmas dinners. I assure you, those are coming, but before I could focus on writing about Thanksgiving, I had to get this dinner published and recorded. It was every bit as good as the name sounds, and even though its Sunday and there are no alcohol sales, I am trying to figure out how to get another bottle of champagne so I can make another round tonight! Alsatian Tart

I was excited for this month’s dinner. Of course, I am always excited for our NHN family dinners, but this month I was particularly looking forward to it. Why? I was making one of my all-time favorite dishes, which includes the mother of all delicious secret ingredients – Crème Fraîche. Crème Fraîche is a wonderful French soured buttercream. While it may sound like Amercian sour cream, it is much more on the creamy side and less on the sour side. And just all-around amazing. I was confident in my meal choice and very confident that Lesley would also find this dish heavenly. Not to mention, the only meat that I would have to cook was bacon, and I can definitely do that. Palak Paneer with Masala Roasted Cauliflower

Prior to my move to Indiana, I had never had Indian food. It wasn’t that the other places that I lived didn’t offer this option, I just didn’t really know what it was. If you don’t know what something is, it’s hard to make the choice to try it. Lesley loves Indian food and has forced me, I mean, invited me to join her at two different Indian restaurants in town. I was pleasantly surprised with both, but my favorite trip came when Lesley was publishing her book Clancy and the Search for the Mashed Potato (more…)
