S’mores Pie

There is nothing more quintessentially summer than s’mores. They are the perfect pair to the end of a camping day, lake day, or just a backyard BBQ. Although we were home all summer with nothing much to do our consumption of s’mores this year was way down. Riley, my traditionalist, took note. In response, and after a discussion of pies she had been making with her Grandpa, I promised her we would make a s’mores pie together to celebrate the end of summer.

Salted Caramel Whiskey and Toffee Pie

It is finally February, which means we have survived almost all of winter. Yay! I have to say, I would not be this cheery if it weren’t for the Happy Lamp Santa brought me for Christmas. Oh, Christmas. It feels so long ago and still I have some lingering Christmas tasks. Thank you cards, and writing this post. At least I’ll get one of those done today! 🙂

Lemon Dream Pie

When Lesley asked me to make a lemon pie for her birthday I was at a loss. We may agree on a lot of things, but we still have our differences. Birthday desserts is one of them. For me, the more chocolatey you can make a cake, the better. For Lesley, it’s pie. Don’t get me wrong. Pies are delicious, but I discovered long ago that pie crust is next to impossible to make and gave up adding pies to my repertoire. I suppose this is another way Lesley challenges me. Dirt Cups Made with Apple Cider Ice Cream

It’s apple season! Which means apple-cider-everything is back on the top of everyone’s mind. Or at least it is in our household. Apple cider is a staple in this house during the fall season. While the classic beverage is enough to fill the soul with fall joy most of the time, sometimes it needs a little twist. We’ve tried a couple of different apple cider recipes over the years: apple cider roasted chicken, apple cider floats, and apple cider french onion soup, all of which were delicious.
