The beginning of the month of October marks a very important holiday in my family – Halloween Decorating Day. By the time Halloween season rolls around, we haven’t decorated for a holiday since Easter. That is just way too long for a family obsessed with all things holidays.
Typically Halloween Decorating Day consists of throwing on the Halloween party Pandora station, getting the Halloween decorations out, organizing them, and finding the perfect place for them throughout the house. Maddie is always very excited when any song from Nightmare Before Christmas comes on, and Riley cannot wait to do all of the decoration organizing. Of course, Riley just loves everything about it. She’s a girl after my own heart when it comes to holidays.
This year, we had to do Halloween Decorating Day a day early. It felt a little strange, but Decorating Day on a Monday felt strange as well. Since we were doing a new day, I figured we might as well add a new tradition to the day as well. Welcome Witches’ Brew! A delicious beverage concoction that kept us dancing through the decorating! The main ingredient of Sprite had the girls interested from the beginning, and after a spat about which witch’s apprentice would add the ghostly food coloring, it was ready for tasting! It received an approval rating of three thumbs up, and the girls enjoyed drinking it out of new Halloween glassware that they found at Target.
In the end, fun was had and the decorations are up. That’s how you set up a holiday for success 🙂
- Add sherbet to the cauldron of your choice.
- Pour Sprite and grape juice over the sorbet.
- Stir to combine all ingredients. Sorbet does not need to be melted before serving.
- Add purple food coloring one drop at a time until you have your desired color.
