This summer has been full of family vacations. First, we had our NHN family vacation to Northern Michigan, a trek that turned out to be one of our finest vacations. The second family vacation came this past week and brought us to the little town of Friendsville, MD.
Friendsville may be a little town, but the house we stayed in was anything but little. It has everything that you could imagine or want: a hot tub, outdoor games, a swing set, horse stable, and every kitchen appliance you could ever think of. The reason we were in Friendsville was also anything but little. We were gathering for a family reunion to celebrate my Gran’s 90th birthday and my aunt’s 60th birthday. It was a celebration!
Getting 26 or so relatives together is no small feat, and with the organizational skills of my aunts, it really is a miracle we all made it! Made it we all did, and the festivities started the very first night and didn’t stop till we all packed up to go home. We played games, laughed, made a flower garden present for Gran, and ate cake to our hearts’ content. The happiest person there though had to have been Gran. I haven’t seen her smile so big in a long time, and that made it all worth it.
It’s easy to get caught up in the day to day of our own lives. I’m proud to be part of a family that takes time out every couple of years to get together and reconnect. Till next time!
