Removing Sticky Labels

This month’s half-price Goodwill sale was particularly good. If you haven’t discovered this sale, you need to check it out.Removing Sticky labels Goodwill can sometimes get a bad rap. It’s easy to think of it as just a bunch of old stuff that someone didn’t want anymore, and really, it is. But, as the wise old saying goes, one woman’s trash is another woman’s treasure. Typically the first Saturday of the month is the half-price sale, and this is when Goodwill puts out all of its treasures. Here are some helpful hints: go to the largest  location, go early, and don’t shop too fast; the best finds are usually hidden.

Once you have found your treasure, if it is a household good, you’ll run into a small dilemma. The sticky label. These were the bane of my existence for a long time. There is nothing more frustrating than bringing your new find home and not being able to display it because you can’t get the label off. When I discovered the following trick, I was floored by how easy it is! Gone are my days of endlessly soaking them in water and scrubbing. Here’s the trick.

What You’ll Need:

1 tbsp vegetable oil

1 tbsp baking soda

1) Remove as much of the paper part of the label as possible.

2) Mix the baking soda and vegetable oil together until it forms a thick paste.

3) Apply a thick coat of the mixture to the sticky area and wait ten minutes.

4) Wipe it off, and you’re done! No scrubbing necessary.
